Biography and speech of Carmel Hanna MLA

Carmel Hanna is an SDLP Assembly Member for South Belfast and, prior to suspension, was the Minister for Employment and Learning. She initiated and was Chair of the Assembly’s Cross-Party Group on International Development. A registered nurse and midwife, she was a member of the Assembly’s Health and Environment Committees before becoming a Minister. She is also a Belfast City Councillor for Balmoral in South Belfast and represents the SDLP on the Council’s Good Relations Steering Panel.
